Line-up Dutch Junior Songfestival 2007 revealed

Dutch broadcaster AVRO has revealed the line-up for the two semifinals of the upcoming Dutch Junior Eurovision Song Contest selections, to be held on 22nd and 29th September. The final of the Dutch Junior Songfestival 2007 takes place on 6th October. The winner will represent the Netherlands in Ahoy' in Rotterdam.

The Dutch Junior Songfestival will be hosted by Sipke Jan Bousema. On Saturday 8th December, he will also be the host of the Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2007, organised by Dutch broadcaster AVRO in Ahoy' in Rotterdam.

Portugal announces rules for Junior

The Portuguese broadcaster will repeat last year’s formula for Junior Eurovision Song Contest.
Yesterday, RTP put online the rules for the national selection. As oikotimes.com reported earlier, all the kids between 10 and 15 years old have two months to write and compose original songs and send it to RTP.
Then, a jury will select the 12 songs that will be performed in the live festival.
Portugal participated last year for the first time in Eurovision Junior, with the 14th year old boy Pedro Madeira.

Dervish in Coruña, Spain

Dervish, the group that represented Ireland in Eurovision Song Contest this year, will perform live in Coruña, Spain.
According to eurovision-spain and the newspaper “La Voz de Galicia”, the Irish group is the special guests of "Festival de Ortigueira", next July 8, 10.00 pm.
This known festival is dedicated to Folk and ethnic groups from all over the world.

Sweden moves JESC national final

Swedish broadcaster TV4 has announced that they will be moving the Junior Eurovision Song Contest national final from the originally scheduled 8th September one week earlier to Friday August 31st.


Escsweden.com exclusively reports that TV4 will be moving the Swedish JESC national final one week earlier due to the fact that they will be broadcasting the first Eurovision Dance Contest the next day and they wish to make it a special Eurovision weekend.

The names of the eight young artists that will compete for Rotterdam will be announced in the following months.

Ola says no more Melodifestivalen for The Ark

Ola Salo from The Ark said to Aftonbladet that the group will never do Melodifestivalen ever again. "Now we have won and that's it, it has been a great experience" Salo says. Salo continued by saying that he first wanted to meet Carola in Melodifestivalen but after meeting her he passed with a smile on his face he concluded.

Eurostars in Allsång på Skansen concert

Allsång på Skansen, the annual Swedish summer “singsong” kicked off on Tuesday in Skansen.

The community singing, which is the exact translation of the word “Allsång”, is all about eating, dancing and having fun watching famous stars on stage performing live in the Skansen wildlife park in Stockholm. The popular event sees this year, as well ,many Eurovision stars and hopefuls, amongst them The Ark, Lasse Berghagen and Nanne Grönvall.

The show is hosted by Anders Lundin known to Eurovision fans as the host of the 2000 contest in Stockholm. A day before yesterday saw the The Ark in their first appearance after this year's Eurovision Song Contest, as well as Melodifestivalen participants Pernilla Wahlgren and Electric Banana Band. In the weeks to follow the Skansen stage will see the following Eurostars:

Måns Zelmerlöw (Melodifestivalen 2007), Patrik Isaksson (Melodufestivalen 2006)

July 10
Lasse Berghagen, who participated for Sweden in 1975 Eurovision Song Contest and who also hosted the Allsång på Skansen from 1993-2003, managing to increase the ratings to an amazing 2 million viewers and, finally, Lasse Holm, composer of no less than five Melodifestivalen winners.

Varvara in Athens

Varvara, the Russian 2005 and 2006 national final runner up, will be visiting Athens, Greece for a single appearance at the Space Club, on July 7th. The popular singer has already tried her luck twice to get the golden ticket for the Eurovision Song Contest and she is said to be willing to try once more for 2008.

Varvara's music style or rather styles combine a multitude of world music traditions. "Modern music should consist of alternative and symphonic music, ethnics of northern Europe and East, electronics and new age, "flavoured" with actual sound" says Varvara, who has her views set on the international market as well.

Varvara will be performing in Athens on 7 July at the Space Club (100 Kifisou Avenue). Tickets cost €20.

Thomas Thörnholm accuses Martin Stenmark of song theft

Songwriter Thomas Thörnholm is accusing Sweden's 2005 Eurovision entrant Martin Stenmark of song theft. It's Stenmarcks song "Hand i Hand" that the songwriter is claiming is to similar to hes song "Simple Man Wishing". On Wednesday the stimm comitee will meet and decide if Martin Stenmarck is guilty of song-theft.

Martin Stenmark represented Sweden in Eurovision song contest 2005 with the Casino inspired song "Las Vegas". Martin has done a huge comeback last year after the disappointing result with a new album which was number one on the Swedish album charts for many weeks.

Two ESC hosts on heat wave; huge fire in capital Athens

Two recent Eurovision Song Contest host countries, Turkey (2004) and Greece (2006) are suffering from severe heat waves which in some regions approached the 46 (in Greece) and 51 (in Turkey) degrees.
The entire state of Greece is on high alert as huge fires occurred today. The fires cannot be controlled and many of them created in Power Plant facilities. Already many black outs occur in the several cities and the power and telephone network of Greece is in critical condition. The Greek government is on high alert and the entire Fire Department and the Army are on red alert.
Greece so far has 7 confirmed deaths from the heat wave. In the capital Athenians experience one of the worst fires close to the city. The mountain of Parnitha is entirely on fire, the casino was evacuated and the Telecommunication and TV stations antennas are at risk. At the moment there is no possibility for fire department air planes to fly over as it is night. The Greek media are all night on breaking news. Lately it was reported that 2 persons died in Magnisia (central Greece) due to the fire.
In Turkey the situation is close to similar. There are no fires reported so far but the temperature is extremely high for the past 3 days. Even 51 degrees Celsius were reported. A result of the world climate change? At this moment there are people to be saved therefore no one will be able to ask this question to himself.
22:00 CET UPDATEIt is reported that the facilities in the mountain of Parnitha (casino, mobile and radio-telecommunication facilities, army facilities) have been evacuated. Along with the rest of the fires in Greece, the entire state is on foot. At Dervenakia the fire no longer threats the South Greece from major black out, SKAI Television reports.
22:28 CET UPDATENorth parts of the Greek capital are evacuating with their private cars causing a small chaos in the region since the vehicles of the regional Municipalities and Fire Department cannot approach the region. At the moment the hotel located on the top of the mountain Mon Parnes is 300 meters away from the fire. The Parnitha mountain is extremely important to Athens as it includes the last forest treasure of the capital. Many Government officials and Ministers are already in the region. So far no house has been threatened. Mayors from all the neighbour regions have gathered at the Thrakomakedones City Hall to co-ordinate the situation and offer extra assistance.

Lithuania begins preselection for Eurovision Dance Contest

Starting from July 4th LRT begins preselection for Eurovision Dance Contest.
Show "Sokiu Eurovizijos nacionaline atranka" will be hosted by Audrius Girzadas and Izabele Romanovaite (professional dancer, winner of Sokiu desimtuko, Lithuanian Dancing with Stars version in couple with Mantas).
10 professional couples will compete for the right to represent Lithuania in EDC. Among them: Donatas Vezelis and Lina Chatkeviciute (2nd ranked Amateur couple of the country in Standard, 12th ranked couple in the World), Gintaras Svistunavicius and Gabriele Valiukaite (2nd ranked Professional couple of country in Latin), Valerijus and Olga Osadcenkos, Saulius Skambinas and Sandra Kniazeviciute.
Every Wednesday one couple will be evicted and it will be decided by the mixed jury's and televoting's system (most likely 50/50).
As of now it's known that televotes will be converted into Eurovision style (12, 10, 8-1). Jury will be able to give it's favourite 12 points, but it's yet unknown if 10, 8-1 will follow or not.
In Eurovision Dance Contest, which will be held on September 1st, 16 couples will be competing from: Austria, Denmark, Finland, Germany, Ireland, Lithuania, The Netherlands, Portugal, Russia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Ukraine, Greece, Poland and United Kingdom.

Evridiki and Dimitris Korgialas continue their live appearances throughout Greece this summer with a summer set list for their fans as it happened in their support act in the opening of the Evanescence concert in Athens on June 23.

Bulgaria starts preparing for Belgrade

Bulgarian TV have planned a detailed national selection process to decide their next representative to the Eurovision Song Contest, while at the same time making an effort to keep the public involved. The campaign kicks off on July 1st when the call for entries begins. This year's slogan is "To be a star, to get on the big stage, turn the summer romance into music."
Bulgarian broadcaster BNT have announced this year's national selection process that will decide who gets the ticket for the 2008 Eurovision Song Contest in Belgrade. As of October 1, BNT will launch a new weekly show, called EuroBGVision, which will be held at the National Palace of Culture in Sofia. The show aims to present the Bulgarian public with possible candidates from the local music scene and give the public the chance to send their favourites to a semi final.
EuroBGVision will feature each week live performances of songs which will be followed by discussions on general music topics. At the end of each of the three months (October, November and December) a special show will feature all the songs presented previously in the same month and each time the viewers will select three to go to the semi final.
The songs not selected will be given a second chance, together with all new songs that will be submitted until the end of 2007. At the end of January, an expert jury will select nine of those to go to the semi final as well, raising the number to a total of 18.

Finally, BNT will add three wildcards that will go directly to the final.

Sarbel, Natatsa Theodoridou and Sakis Rouvas in Australia


Sarbel, this year's Greek representative at the Eurovision Song Contest will be touring Australia next month together with popular Greek singer Natassa Theodoridou.
Sakis Rouvas,who represented the country in 2004 and hosted the 2006 contest will be visiting Australia as well for a single concert in April 2008, together with Antonis Remos.
Sarbel will be performing in Melbourne on July 6 at the Metro Night Club, and at the Westgate Entertainment Complex on July 7.
The following week he will be in Adelaide on July 13 at the HQ Headquarters and in Sydney, at the Enmore Theater on July 14.

Sakis Rouvas will also be visiting Australia for a single appearance at the Melbourn Vodafone Arena on Saturday 12 April 2008, together with popular Greek singer Antonis Remos.
The four-hour concert is expected to sell out due to the popularity of the two singers.
