One thing is certain about the teenage punk rock group from Andorra. They are far from anonymous anymore. Although they came 12th in this year’s Eurovision Song Contest final, they kept their promise to make even the walls of the Hartwall Areena dance. In the first of our after-Helsinki series of interviews with this year’s participants, N!ki Francesca speaks to esctoday.com about his Eurovision Song Contest.
N!ki, Potter and Gallego, accompanied by Ivan and Edgar from Barcelona, gave a powerful performance of their own composition Salvem el mon (Let’s save the world) and received 80 points from 19 countries in total, finishing 11 points after the 10th qualifier Moldova.
N!ki Francesca, the band’s lead singer, spoke to esctoday.com about their experience in the contest, their feelings and their immediate plans. He put in words what we would all like to know: How was it on stage? What was going through his mind during the announcement of the results? How did he feel about the result?
N!ki also told us about the European tour they hope to be able to organise. In their MySpace they have opened a special section for their fans to tell them where they would like to see them next.
So, N!ki, how was your experience with your first Eurovision Song Contest?
It’s been an incredible experience, I’ve learnt loads and loads of stuff and had a wonderful time! Basically all I’ve learnt has helped towards my career as a musician. Before Eurovision noone barely knew about Anonymous and we were just a simple garage band teaching ourselves. During the contest we worked with many professionals like Helen Rowson, our vocal teacher and Rechi, our choreographer of ATV from whom we have learnt techniques which have helped us develop.
