Elitsa Todorova seriously injured during rehearsal

The Bulgarian singer Elitsa Todorova (ESC 2007) survived by miracle Saturday, after hundreds of kilograms of iron crashed down, on top of her during a concert rehearsal.

A sudden storm had caused a scaffold from the concert's stage to crash down on performers and the technical team. Two other individuals have been injured, however, Elitsa's condition is the most serious one because the singer had sustained head trauma.

It is still unclear if the concert would take place as scheduled. According to reports, the wind in the area is becoming stronger and there is a possibility of cancelling it.

The company that has built the stage on the sand has not yet offered an explanation of the cause of the incident.

Hope she'll be ok soon!

Marija Serifovic preparing new album for European market

Marija Serifovic is currently preparing new album in English language for the European market.

While she is recording new songs with which she plans to conquer foreign music scene, she talk for "Blic" about music, successes, as well as jealousy and hard times in showbusiness and discloses future collaboration with a foreign musician.

"As the winner of last year’s Eurovision, I had a chance to go on European tour and see the difference between our and their way of organizing work and I realized it is completely different. Unlike Serbia where everything is done ad hoc, people do there everything on time. Of course they have a higher standard as well, so they can invest more in the quality of music. I agree that it is not easy to make an international career, but it is possible. From the beginning of my career I have tried hard to be different from other musicians. It is hard to make the career in Europe, but I am on my way to realize it. That is my wish, intention and ultimate goal."

Marija Serifovic splits from her manager

Oikotimes.com reports:

After Marija backed an ultra-nationalist political party in Serbia at the previous presidential elections her career has been on the line. It seems though that her manager was the one to blame.
Marija Serifović officially ended all collaboration with her former manager Saša Mirkovć due to inability to reach a compromise.
Marija is currently negotiating with several managers about their possible future collaboration and it is believed that she is closest to picking Gane Pecikoza and Maksa Catović.
Marija Serifović is in Germany at the moment, and upon her return she will make a final decision about the manager who will continue to take care of her career.

Eurovision not rigged, says broadcasting union

Following the widespread criticism and in a general climate of increasing mistrust of anything to do with television and voting, the organisers of the Eurovision song contest have held an inquiry into the allegations.

Members of the European Broadcasting Union discussed the allegations following this year’s contest but “found no evidence of irregularities”.

As a further check they engaged PriceWaterhouseCoopers to conduct an audit of the voting system, which again turned up nothing untoward.

Worries about the possibility of vote rigging extend beyond the UK, where the matter was even discussed in an early day motion in the House of Commons.

Malta led calls for the voting system to be overhauled, along with the removal of phone votes in the former Soviet Bloc countries, and Ireland and Andorra also expressed concern over this year’s scoring.

But the head of the contest, Svante Stockselius, insisted block voting could not occur: “We have looked into it and we have had auditors look at it, but it is not possible to manipulate the voting,” he said, adding, “I wouldn’t say 100 per cent because that would be impossible but there is no way you can manipulate the televoting.”It’s just that they have similar tastes in music (another explanation Mr Stockselius was keen to offer).

Marija Serifovic denies rumours about 2008 entry

oikotimes.com reports:
The winner of this year's Eurovision Song Contest, Marija Serifovic, has denied rumours written elsewhere that she will be entering for Switzerland next year.
In an interview with our partner-site Eurosong.be, the first ever Serbian victor said that it would be a 'stupid' idea.
''We had some calls and mails, but at this moment I'm not thinking about that, especially not for next year. I don't think anyone who wins Eurovision should go again, it's a stupid thing- imagine if you win and then five years later you don’t.''
When asked about the voting in this year's contest, Marija said that it didn't worry her at all.
''Some Western countries need to make better songs'' she explained.
And finally, when asked if she was worried that her winning song, ''Molitva'', hadn't had any success in Western Europe (and has failed to find a record label in many countries), Marija revealed that she is set to release an 'all-English album for the whole of Europe, so I’m not worried yet.''
