Fatals Picards continues to give concerts all around France

Their (bad) Eurovision experience has not affected the Fatals Picards' career at all, and the group continues to give concerts all around France.

According to their website, the group already have 37 concerts to give by May 2008, the biggest of them all being "La Fête de l'Humanité" on 14th September, near Paris. On 15th August, they will perform in Luxey (on the Atlantic coast) and will meet the group MAP there, one of this year's French contenders. They will also meet les Wampas on 19th August at the Festival Euryth'mix, in Brussels, Belgium.

Proud to share placing with UK

On the news page of their site, Les Fatals state clearly that they "nearly got the last place" in Finland. They also write : "we did what can be done, we were not first... but not last either, and proud to share that placing with the British representatives".

They also thank their supporters.

The band's fourth CD album, "Pamplemousse mécanique", which was released last February, had a second pressing including the Eurovision entry, "L'amour à la Française", and a special sticker on the case. Regarding its sales, "Pamplemousse" is still placed at number 114 (out of 200, in the official French sales list), its best place being 24th.

Verka Serduchka is ready to hit French charts

Verka Serduchka, is continuing his/her European success by preparing to hit the French charts.

His single, and Eurovision entry, ''Dancing Lasha Tumbai'' will hit French shelves on July 30, and is already starting to air on music channels and radio stations.

''Dancing Lasha Tumbai'' has been a huge success for the Ukrainian Drag Queen, with it charting at #6 in Sweden, and #28 in the United Kingdom- the first time that a Eurovision entry that didn't win, and wasn't from the UK, had charted on the isles since 1974.

Next Autumn, Paris will host two concerts given by former Eurovision Song Contest artists. On October 10th, Anna Vissi (Greece 80, Cyprus 82 and Greece 06) is performing at "Le Grand Rex", a famous music hall of the capital-city. On the day before, she will sing in Brussels (Belgium), at "Le Cirque royal".

On November 16th, another Euro-veteran, and twice contender for the Eurovision Song Contest crown, is expected at L'Olympia, the most famous Parisian concert hall. Tereza Kesovija (Monaco 66 and Yugoslavia 72) will be accompanied by the Great orchestra of Croatia.

This is not the first time that the Croatian artist has given concerts in France. She recorded a number of records in France, from the mid-60's to the early 80's, including a French version of her 1972 Yugoslavian entry, under the title "La musique et toi". Another interesting fact is that she published a vocal version of the "Te deum" of Marc-Antoine Charpentier, the Eurovision Song Contest hymn.

After a 22nd disappointed place in 2007 Eurovision Song Contest, the French entrant Les Fatals Picards don’t stop with their music and, with a very busy agenda, they play all around France with more than 10 performances in July.

New team heads OGAE France

On Sunday June 24th,OGAE France held its annual board meeting in Paris and completely renewed the board.

After 2 years of flawless work, Alex (the President), Patrice (the Treasurer) and Alain (the Secretary) decided to stop their activities. However they of course remain members of the French club.

Elections took place which resulted in a new board. Mathieu Kroon was elected the new President of Ogae-France. Mathieu is a young (22) and dynamic person with a very European background (he has origins from the Netherlands, Germany and Spain!). Jean-Louis Camet was appointed as the new treasurer and Francis Soghomonian as the new secretary.

The magazine of the French club (Cocoricovision) was also subject to changes. After 5 years of brilliant work, Alex Rouffignac decided to stop his work and Ethan Marchand is now the chief editor.
