Serbia Eurovision 2008 - New logo

RTS and EBU have launched the theme of the 2008 Eurovision Song Contest together with an entirely different logo than the one announced at first.

The theme art for the upcoming Eurovision Song Contest is based on the slogan The Confluence Of Sound.

Sandra Šuša, Executive Producer of the event said:

"The fact that the host city, Belgrade, is located on the confluence of two big European rivers, the Danube and the Sava, served as inspiration for the theme art of the upcoming Eurovision Song Contest."

Earlier, RTS presented the stage design for the upcoming Eurovision Song Contest, which is based on the same concept. The new theme art replaces an earlier theme art concept, which won an RTS competition and which fans refer to as 'The Plum'.

Eurovision 2008: The stage design and the sublogo

Seventy stage designs were submitted to RTS in the open competition proclaimed in June. The winner is the Confluence design which won first prize and 10.000 euros.



For the logo, 455 designs were submitted in the open competition held by RTS and the winner is "Mama" -first prize:10 000 Euro.

Eurovision Dance Contest: logo revealed

The official logo of the Eurovision Dance Contest, which will be held on 1st September for the first time, has been revealed. It features the word Eurovision written in the same way as it is on the Eurovision Song Contest logos without the heart and the silhouette of a dancing couple in front of a star that contains the flag of the host country, the United Kingdom.

Furthermore, it has been revealed that the contest will be presented in both English and French. French was not a clear choice, since France is not taking part in the competition.

The show will be held at the BBC television centre and last for about 2 hours and 15 minutes.

As published before, Claudia Winkleman and Graham Norton witll host the show and Bruno Tonioli and Len Goodman will be commentators.

Serbia 2008: RTS fires the starting gun

RTS (Radiotelevizija Srbije), the host broadcaster for the 2008 Eurovision Song Contest in Belgrade has announced that it will be running a competition that will lead to the creation of the next Eurovision Song Contest's branding and logo, the stage, and most surprisingly, the hosts of the event.

NEW LOGO

This will graph and symbolise the pictorial identity of the 2008 Eurovision Song Contest. It should associate with Serbia, music, youth and Europe. It will also provide the graphic symbol for medias, press and the competition's identity.

Bidding is opened for 30 days and it is opened for all native and foreign persons. Bidding is anonymus. Prizes will be arwarded for the top three designs of €5000, €3000 and €2000 respectively.

THE STAGE

A competition to determine the ideal solution for stage for next year's Eurovision Song Contest at the Beogradska Arena, Belgrade is also underway. The key determinants are:

- To represent an association with Belgrade and Serbia
- To represent native identities, history and modern themes, symbols and universal recognised messages.
- To ensure that the stage can be seen from all angles of hall and subordinated for TV broadcast
- To have settings of all new electronical possibilites including some movable parts of stage

The Winning idea will get €10,000 award.

THE HOSTS

Four hosts are being sought for 2008. Two will win the right to host Beovizija, and another pair to host the Eurovision Song Contest. Bidding is opened for 30 days for all persons older than 18 years. Must be creative, communicative, can speak english and one more language of EU.

100 people will make it to the first round for testing and camera work. 24 male and 24 female people will progress to a second round of selection, participating in 20 special shows, with couples gradually being eliminated. The winners will be chosen through a mix of televoting and jury. The winning pair will host the Eurovision Song Contest and the second placed couple will host the national final.
